Unknown Money ledger

Money you cannot explain stays parked.

Extra money in your account at end-of-day is not automatically a gift. TrackAm holds positive residuals in the Unknown Money ledger until you remember where they came from — so you never spend money you cannot account for.

Unknown Money ledger

Parked

"£70 appeared in your main account on the 22nd. It is held here until you confirm the source."

I know the source

"Refund from last week's return — categorised as an income, balance updated honestly."

Accept anyway

"Booked as Unknown Income — flagged in your books so the audit trail remains complete."

Why "Accept it as income" is the wrong default

Other apps silently credit anything they cannot match — and your spendable balance creeps upwards without explanation. TrackAm refuses to do that. Money without provenance is a question, not a celebration, and the ledger keeps that question visible until it gets answered.

  • Two-tap resolve: "I know the source" creates a real credit transaction.
  • Fallback: "Accept anyway" books it as Unknown Income, with full provenance.
  • Every entry shows the account and the date — easy to reconstruct.
